iRun has been a project I have been glad to work on. It's allowed me to be freely creative as I had complete control over the design. When John contacted me he was unsure of what he wanted the final outcome to be like, but he did have some ideas in mind regarding the applications' content. He wanted the iPhone app to be simple, focusing on plotting routes and recording run times and he wanted the web application to handle all the complicated stuff such as setting personal goals, tracking weight loss, run ghosts etc. The interface had to remain clean with usability being key.
Designing for the iPhone is something I'm passionate about - just as passionate as I am about designing for the web. As an iPhone user myself I know what apps look good and what don't. I wanted to keep the interface a little similar to the web application. I also wanted to keep the interface clean, simple, uncluttered yet straight to the point. An iPhone app needs to have a friendly engaging user interface which most iPhone apps don't. The image featured to the left is what's on screen while running. It calculates how many miles or KM you have ran and works out your average speed for the run.
